About

This course takes some of the essential components of Dr. Green’s master’s level teaching methods & curriculum design courses and makes them accessible for folks outside of higher education. Course content includes: assessing learners’ needs, setting learning objectives, determining scope and sequence, applying learning theory to lesson plan design, climate setting, increasing learner engagement, answering common questions, handling resistance, creating post-session feedback surveys, and more.

Whether you are a facilitator who has never had a chance to engage in formal training about the theory, art, and practice of teaching, or it’s been a minute and you are looking for a refresher, this course helps facilitators expand and sharpen their educational tools for teaching trans content to adult participants. People of all gender identities and expressions are welcome, and we strive to create a learning space where we can all show up as our true selves.

Frequently Asked Questions

Below are answers to some of our most common questions about our course and course policies.

Nope. This course is open to people of all genders.

No, but it may be helpful to have some experiencing with teaching or facilitating.

It is always a good idea for facilitators to have a strong knowledge base about the content they are wanting to teach before teaching it.  This course focuses on skills and strategies related to teaching trans content, and does not specifically focus on building participants’ knowledge about trans communities to teach, so it is recommended that participants come in with a strong foundation. If you would like to complete a Trans 101 training prior to the course to determine your baseline knowledge or refresh yourself, please check out our OnDemand Trans 101 course.

Yes, our Skills & Strategies for Facilitators of Trans Content is a different course than our Training-of-Trainers.  Our Skills & Strategies course is more about the art, theory and practice of teaching as a whole, rather than focusing on putting together Trans 101 level trainings.  Skills & Strategies takes content from Dr. Green’s master-level courses taught in higher education settings and makes them more accessible to people outside academia.

We recognize that each learner’s needs may be different, especially for an interactive learning course, and we invite participants to share accessibility requests on our registration survey.
